FAQ
What's in the savings estimate report?
The savings estimate report will include insights derived from your actual usage data such as:
- The savings Opsima will generate for you over the next 12 months.
- Which services these savings will be coming from.
- How you currently compare to your peers in terms of savings rate from commitments, and how you will compare with Opsima
Is the savings estimate report free?
Yes, this report is entirely free and there is no obligation to follow up either.
Which AWS account do I need to connect to get an estimate?
If you operate with an AWS organization, you will need to connect your AWS Management Account (also called Payer Account) so that we can perform the savings analysis on all accounts attached to it. Only the Management Account provides visibility on attached accounts usage. If you don't have an organization, you just need to connect your only account.
What permission will Opsima need to perform the savings estimate?
Opsima needs read only permission on your AWS Cost Explorer report to be able to perform the savings estimate. There is also a handshake procedure to send a SNS notification to Opsima once the permission has been granted. This is useful to be able to come back to you quickly with the results.
What data will Opsima have access to for performing the savings estimate?
We will have permission to access only Cost Explorer data which contains only cloud cost and usage data.
How does Opsima have access to my AWS Account for performing the savings estimate?
By filling out your email, you will be prompted to deploy an AWS Cloud Formation stack that will create an IAM Role. This role is assumed by Opsima to access your Cost Explorer data and run the simulation.
Does the email provided in the estimation form has to be the same as my AWS Management Account email?
No, the email you provide to perform the savings estimate does not have to be the same as your AWS Management Account email.
Which cloud providers does Opsima support?
We cover AWS for now, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure will be coming soon.
Can I get an estimate of my savings before I sign up?
Yes, it's quick and easy. We'll provide a dedicated link that you can use to securely share with Opsima your Cost Explorer historical usage. Based on this, we will generate a detailed report of your projected savings and where they would be coming from.

What will the impact on my AWS infrastructure be?
There is absolutely no impact on your infrastructure, meaning Opsima will not and cannot access, deploy, start, stop, modify or delete any of your resources such as instances, databases etc.
I go through a reseller, can I also benefit from Opsima?
Yes absolutely. Opsima optimizes commitment decisions on your behalf, so we work just fine whether you purchase directly from AWS or through a reseller. We are on your side and provide our expertise to help you make better decisions effortlessly.
How does billing work?
Opsima's billing cycle is monthly and aligned with AWS. Every month, you will receive a bill from Opsima, for an amount equivalent to 20% of the savings we have generated for you. In other words, the savings will pay for themselves!
I already have some commitments (Savings Plans or Reserved Instances), can I still benefit from Opsima?
Yes, you can. Opsima’s optimization engine will factor in your existing Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, adjusting its strategy to maximize your savings. We will not take any fee on any pre-existing commitments.
Can I still manage some commitments myself?
You can, but we strongly encourage you to let Opsima handle all of your commitments to maximize your savings. We implement sophisticated strategies that perform best when not affected by external action.
Is there a minimum spend per month?
There is no formal minimum but we generally start to bring meaningful value above €3k of spend per month. Savings will also depend on your usage service mix and various factors. The easiest way to find out is to run a quick simulation of your savings. Ready to give it a go?
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel anytime and for any reason, including no reason at all! We only ask for a 30 days' notice so that we can roll back our solution smoothly.
